În 2010 când am făcut marea tură pe la bisericile fortificate săseşti, am sărit partea dreaptă a drumului, pe direcţia Braşov - Sighişoara, în favoarea părţii stângi, cu destinaţii precum Viscri (UNESCO) sau Meşendorf. De data aceasta, revenind din tura din 2012 care ne-a dus pe o buclă la Roşia Montană, Cluj, Sovata şi multe palate boiereşti, am acoperit zona lipsă intrând în Homorod, Caţa şi un sătuc obscur de care vă voi spune mai multe Paloş.
Să începem cu biserica fortificată Homorod: chiar dacă nu e e de talia Viscriului, nu este de ocolit, pentru că are unul dintre cele mai frumoase interioare pe care le-am văzut vreodată. Piesele de rezistenţă sunt panourile din lemn pictat de la balcon şi tavanul de lemn. Pentru mine Homorod va însemna biserica cu piese din lemn pictat. Altarul cu orga deasupra, nu în extremitatea opusă cum se obişnuieşte, este în acelaşi ton.
Din turnul în care se poate urca, sau căţăra, cu oarecare peripeţii, se văd satul şi împrejurimile.
The Homorod fortified church
In 2010 when we toured the Saxon fortified churches we visited the ones on the left side of the Braşov - Sighişoara road, prefering the UNESCO heritage listed Viscri and Meşendorf. This time, returning from our tour which took us to Roşia Montană, Cluj, Sovata and a handful of boyar palaces, we completed the missing link, visiting Homorod, Caţa and an obscure village, Paloş, I will tell you more about.
If the Homorod fortified church cannot equal Viscri, it is certainly not to be neglected because it has one of the most beautiful interiors I have ever seen. The main elements to be admired are the painted wood panels at the balcony and the ceiling. For me Homorod equals the church with the beautifully painted wooden panels. It's choir is lovely as well, in the same tones and boasting an organ on top of it, when normally it should be placed on the opposite side.
You can climb, or scramble, in the tower, from where you have a beautiful view of the village and the surroundings.
